Coral Reef Restoration
Growing new coral to help damaged reefs recover.
Healthy coral reefs support fisheries, protect coastlines and shelter marine life. Since 2023, we have worked with Linda Bahari to help damaged parts of Zanzibar's reefs recover.
We grow small pieces of coral in underwater nurseries until they are strong enough to be transplanted onto the reef. Since 2025, more than 2,800 coral colonies have been transplanted, with survival rates above 96%.
We also train local conservation staff in restoration techniques, and keep monitoring the restored reef. Every coral gives the reef a better chance to recover.
Coral Reef Restoration
Understanding the health of our reefs, season after season.
You can only protect what you understand. Twice a year, our team surveys the reef to see how healthy it is and how it is changing.
We record the condition of the corals, the fish and invertebrates that live on the reef, and the threats that put it at risk.
Monitoring keeps our work grounded in science and helps us share reliable information with communities, partners and government authorities.
